Cities that have performance measurement systems have found it easier to prioritize and specify expected results, clarify intangibles, investigate failure, and are able to distinguish between aspirational and achievable results.

This session will feature Public Works professionals with performance measurement systems who will discuss:

what to look for in performance measurement systems
how to implement them
how they can assist with managerial decisions
how to communicate these measures
how to use these systems to improve day-to-day performance

Additional information will be provided on how to use performance measures to identify opportunities for improvement and to compare performance against both internal and external standards.

After viewing this program, participants will be better able to:

Identify how performance measures can help with staffing and equipment purchasing decisions
Explain how to manage by the numbers
Consider ways to obtain upper level support and staff buy-in
