The 2018 Snow Conference has it all — from expert-led snow and ice education sessions to an exhibit floor full of excited vendors who can't wait to show you the latest winter maintenance solutions your community's been looking for…

Coconino County's recent APWA reaccreditation highlighted its extensive snow plan as an APWA Model Practice. The county relies on its snow plan to guide its response to the varying snow events that can occur in this jurisdiction that spans 18,661 square miles and is the 5th snowiest region in the U.S., averaging 110 inches per year.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the 4 key elements of a functional response plan: preparation, mobilization, response, and after-storm action.
  • Examine Coconino County's plan for rapid, efficient, and scalable mobilization.
  • Discuss how the county uses locally-sourced cinders instead of salt or chemical deicing.
