The Michigan APWA Chapter partnered with Grand Rapids Community College to build a Public Works Academy, moving individuals from poverty to great jobs in public works and filling the need of public works and road commissions throughout western Michigan. Discover how you can replicate this program and build partnerships with community colleges and non-profit organizations to fill your hiring needs.
  • Determine how to design, build and conduct a public works academy in their region with community colleges.
  • Examine how to recruit individuals, retain and grow your team.
  • Promote and expand opportunities in public works to a population of people who are looking for good careers while meeting the needs of public works departments for quality staff.
